Family and guests witnessed the transfer of command responsibilities as Capt. Derric T. Turner welcomed aboard the new commanding officer, Capt. Jonathan B. Haynes.

Rear Adm. Michael S. White, commander, Naval Education and Training Command, presided over the ceremony. He praised Turner's successes at CO and expressed confidence in the selection of Haynes for command.

Turner told incoming commanding officer, Capt. Haynes, "in my opinion, you are about to embark on one of the high points of your naval career."

He also expressed his gratitude to the CSS staff, "My tour was a success because of the great people who do the real work every day. I feel humble and very blessed to have had this opportunity."

The new CSS commander took the opportunity to thank family and friends, and that he looks forward to leading the CSS team.

"There is no better place to make an impact on our current and future Navy than at our learning centers and learning sites where our Sailors and officers are trained," said Haynes.

He continued, "I am thoroughly impressed [by CSS's] drive, dedication, and professionalism. I can't emphasize enough how excited I am to join the CSS team as your Commanding Officer."

The Center for Service Support is comprised of active-duty, civilian and contractor personnel who direct the training efforts of seven different administration, logistics and media schools. The CSS team ensures the curriculum and professional development tools are current.
