Employees of Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Pacific contributed a total of 425 pounds of canned goods and non-perishable food items to the 2017 Feds Feed Families Food Drive Campaign, which ran through Aug. 31.
Employees of Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Pacific contributed a total of 425 pounds of canned goods and non-perishable food items to the 2017 Feds Feed Families Food Drive Campaign, which ran through Aug. 31.

"This annual food drive is a clear indication that through relationships with our federal partners in Hawaii, we can work towards achieving the goal of helping to feed families in Hawaii," said NAVFAC Pacific Vice Commander Capt. Michelle LaDuca.

NAVFAC Pacific was one of 21 participating commands that partnered with Commander Navy Region Hawaii (CNRH) and finished with the sixth highest in contributions.

"I want to personally thank everyone for taking the time to contribute to this great cause," said LaDuca. "The true spirit of Ohana is seen through your generosity with the contributions you've made, whether big or small, every donation definitely makes a difference."

All donations collected from NAVFAC Pacific buildings 258, 499 and 62 were contributed to the Hawaii Foodbank, which means all local families in Hawaii will benefit directly from the food drive campaign.

The total combined collection from all CNRH participants surpassed last year's contribution of 7,000 pounds, with an impressive 7,216 pounds of donations.

"Thank you to NAVFAC Pacific for your generosity and support," said Senior Chief Carrie Allen, CNRH representative. "This has been a wonderful display of the Department of the Navy civilians and military working together."

The Feds Feed Families Campaign is a voluntary charitable campaign and was led by the U.S. Department of Agriculture this year, which ran from Jun. 1 through Aug. 31.
