Training Support Center San Diego staff members were recognized with the 2016 Naval Education and Training Command (NETC) Training Support Excellence Award (TEA), Feb. 9.

TSC San Diego received recognition for its exemplary training support of 29 independent Navy learning sites. The command supported Navy and Marine Corps service members in surface, sub-surface, and aviation schools, processing 69,802 enrollments in fiscal year 2016.

"This is a high-functioning team that has always met or exceeded training support expectations," said Scott Trulove, executive director of TSC San Diego. "This recognition was proudly earned by all of our departments."

Additionally, TSC San Diego earned Functional Merit Awards for planning and programming, total force management, logistics management, training support management, and financial management.

"Earning this award is a direct reflection of the hard work and dedication of our staff in support of Sailors and the fleet," said Capt. John D. Wilshusen, commanding officer of TSC San Diego. "Our staff's blend of military members, government civilians, and contractor employees enables TSC San Diego to apply a broad spectrum of experience and expertise to the mission of supporting Navy training requirements. Every time we see a Navy ship heading out to sea, we take pride in knowing that we played a part in helping them prepare for their mission."

A burgee (small flag) will be presented to TSC San Diego to display throughout the 2017 calendar year as an indication of outstanding accomplishment and excellence in delivery of education and training.
