Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON) Steven S. Giordano visited Sailors March 21, at Naval Support Facility (NSF) Thurmont, Maryland.

While touring the facility, Giordano responded to questions regarding uniform matters, cross-training with other services and advancement.

Giordano also responded to questions during an all hands call regarding off-duty education, Sailor 2025 and Ready Relevant Learning among other Navy topics.

"We want to recognize the full potential of our Sailors," said Giordano. "They need the right education at the right time to be successful and we want to ensure they have the correct skillsets for the job in front of them."

Giordano visited NSF Thurmont as part of regular fleet engagement to receive feedback from Sailors and hear their concerns on behalf of Navy leadership.

Since assuming the office of the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy in September 2016, Giordano has traveled to San Diego; Key West, Florida; Norfolk; Millington, Tennessee; and overseas to Bahrain, Afghanistan and Djibouti, to meet with Sailors. The MCPON serves as the senior enlisted leader of the Navy and as an advisor to the chief of naval operations and chief of naval personnel in matters dealing with enlisted personnel and their families.
