The Washington Navy Yard Admiral Gooding Center (AGC) is undergoing a phased improvement plan, which began in January 2016. After initial improvements were completed in late February, the next phase is being planned and expected to finish by the end of September 2017.

The AGC is a venue for collaborative meetings, training and workshops, available at no cost for official Department of the Navy (DoN) events. It supports approximately 150 events annually, including key meetings hosted by many Navy senior leaders.

"The main focus of the improvement plan is to better serve the Navy community," said Cynthia Churbuck, Naval Support Activity Washington AGC program manager. "Our goal is to provide an improved facility with state-of-the-art technology to meet our customers' requirements for the diverse events held at the AGC."

Phase one of the improvement initiative focused on hospitality features of the AGC's common areas and a number of minor but much needed support enhancements. The second phase will be more rigorous, focusing on the event rooms to enhance the collaborative meeting experience of event attendees.

The actual construction aspects of the second phase are expected to get underway in earnest this summer after essential planning and design work is completed. This phase will include a redesign of the event rooms, audio-visual upgrades, and other much needed facility updates.

Co-located with the Washington Navy Yard Town Center, AGC is an ideal location for hosting events with on-site event and technical support. The information technology currently includes wireless Navy-Marine Corps Intranet workstations, video teleconferencing with bridging options, defense collaborative services, a web-based conferencing tool, and an interactive audience voting tool.

AGC is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. DoN employees interested in hosting their events can schedule a tour or make a reservation by calling the AGC front desk at 202-685-8400 or e-mail AGC-Events.NSAW.fcm@navy.mil.
