Commander, US 6th Fleet Visits USS Carney

Vice Adm. James Foggo III, commander, U.S. 6th Fleet, visited Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Carney (DDG 64) while underway in the Mediterranean Sea, Sept. 28.

Foggo first met with Cmdr. Ken Pickard, Carney's commanding officer, and then addressed the crew on their performance in support of the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group and Operation Odyssey Lightning.

Carney is currently supporting the USS Wasp ARG as it conducts strikes in support of the Libyan Government of National Accord-aligned forces against Daesh targets in Sirte, Libya as part of Operation Odyssey Lightning.

Carney, forward-deployed to Rota, Spain, is conducting a routine patrol in the U.S. 6th fleet area of operations in support of U.S. national security interests in Europe.
