According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer remains the second leading cause of cancer deaths for women, just behind lung cancer. During 2015, 40,000 women were predicted to die of this disease.

It is estimated that during 2015, approximately 231,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer and an estimated 60,000 cases of breast cancer, were diagnosed.

Mammography remains the single most important tool for detecting breast cancer. Are you due for your screening mammogram?

For your convenience, Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton Radiology Department offers walk-in (routine screening) mammograms Monday - Friday from 12 p.m. - 3 p.m. (for women 40 and over who are due for their annual exam AND are without breast concerns).

Appointments for screening mammograms are also available on some Saturdays, including Saturday, Oct. 15 -- please call to schedule.

During the month of October, please visit our inspirational Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton Breast Cancer Survivors' wall. You will find the display in the first floor patient waiting area between the General Surgery and Radiology clinics.
