USS Ross Completes Operations with Charles de Gaulle Carrier Strike Group

Guided-missile destroyer USS Ross (DDG 71) completed operations with Charles de Gaulle carrier strike group Oct. 26.

Ross was integral for the completion and successful execution of missions in support of Operation Inherent Resolve while attached to the Charles de Gaulle carrier strike group.

Quick Facts:

Ross was assigned to the Charles de Gaulle carrier strike group from Sept. 19 to Oct. 26.

Ross provided multi-warfare defense support to French aircraft carrier FS Charles de Gaulle (R91) in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, completed 12 air defense exercises, 4 personnel exchanges, and more than 20 cross-deck operations during 36 days with the strike group.

Ross, forward-deployed to Rota, Spain, is conducting naval operations in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of U.S. national security interests in Europe.

Ross deployed from Naval Station Rota July 14.

U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied, joint, and interagency partners in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
