Thanksgiving is just two weeks away and the Navy is stocking up on the ingredients to make this year's feast a memorable one for our Sailors around the world.

Filling the shopping cart is a big task. In 2015, the Navy served:

Roast turkey -- 93,483 lbs.
Baked ham -- 24,825 lbs.
Sweet potatoes -- 16,422 lbs.
Mashed potatoes -- 12,338 lbs.
Cornbread stuffing -- 13,146 lbs.
Gravy -- 1,044 gal.
Green bean casserole -- 6,292 lbs.
Corn on cob -- 6,748 lbs.
Cranberry sauce -- 4,887 lbs.
Assorted pies -- 4,971 pies

"Our Navy culinarians take great pride in providing the annual Thanksgiving meal and seeing the smiles on Sailors' and Marines' faces," said Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Navy Food Service Director Cmdr. Keith Capper. "We know it's hard being away from family and friends for our deployed shipmates, and that's why our culinarians go the extra mile in providing a quality meal to improve morale throughout the fleet on this special occasion."

Thanksgiving Day will be observed as a federal holiday for most Department of the Navy personnel Thursday, Nov. 24.
