NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville Provides Logistics Support to Navy's Most Advanced Warship

Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Jacksonville provided logistics support to USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000) during the ship's port visit to Naval Station Mayport, Florida, Oct. 12.
Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Jacksonville provided logistics support to USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000) during the ship's port visit to Naval Station Mayport, Florida, Oct. 12.

Zumwalt is the Navy's newest, most advanced warship and arrived in Mayport to conduct training and maintenance after operations in the Atlantic Ocean.

NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville Logistic Support Center (LSC) provided logistics support including tracking and delivering high priority parts, and coordination and delivery of government vehicles for transportation.

In addition, NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville provided support in obtaining basic necessities such as food and water for Zumwalt's crew, and quality of life assistance including daily mail delivery coordination.

"It was exciting to have Zumwalt visit and for us to be able to provide services as needed," said Lt. Cmdr. Alejandra Holch, NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville operations officer. "The services we provide may be basic services, but they are critical for day-to-day operations."

NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville will continue to provide logistics, contracting, and provisions support at various ports throughout the southeast region and 4th Fleet, providing personnel for on the ground support at each location.

NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville, one of eight fleet logistics centers under NAVSUP Global Logistics Support (GLS), provides operational logistics, business and support services to fleet, shore and industrial commands of the Navy, Coast Guard, Military Sealift Command, and other joint and allied forces. Services include contracting, regional transportation, fuel, material management, household goods movement support, postal and consolidated mail, warehousing, global logistics and husbanding, hazardous material management, and integrated logistics support.

NAVSUP GLS provides global logistics for a global Navy. The organization is made up of approximately 6,300 military and civilian logistics professionals operating from 105 locations worldwide, providing an extensive array of integrated global logistics and contracting services to Navy, Marine Corps, joint operational units, and allied forces across all warfare enterprises.
