Sailors assigned to Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Korea attended "Chart the Course" training May 24-25.

Chart the Course is an all-hands training event, emphasizing professional behavior and positive decision-making skills designed to help Sailors when faced with difficult situations.

"I think the training [Chart the Course] is important because these are issues Sailors face around the fleet," said Quartermaster 2nd Class Paul Borner, "and decisions we make today can have short or long-term repercussions."

According to the Navy Personnel Command website, http://www.public.navy.mil/, Chart the Course is designed to empower Sailors to recognize professional and responsible behavior, and inspire them to work and live in accordance with the Navy Core Values and Navy Ethos.

"I found it engaging," said Intelligence Specialist 2nd Class Gian Valdez. "The videos highlighted scenarios ranging from sexual assault to leadership, and the discussion allowed us to bounce ideas off each other about how we would handle the situations."

The training should be complete Navywide by Sept. 30 and is in addition to the General Military Training requirements for Hazing, Operational Risk Management, and Alcohol, Drug, and Tobacco Awareness Command-Assigned Readiness Enhancement (CARE).
