Three Civilians from the Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center Bahrain received letters of appreciation from Commander, Task Force 51, Deputy Commanding General, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Central Command, Commanding General 5th Marine Expeditionary Brigade, May 18.

Kimberly Parker, Mike Valdez, and Cedric Menezes of the NAVSUP FLC Bahrain Contracting Department received letters of appreciation from Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Carl Mundy for their outstanding contract support to repairs for USS Kearsarge (LHD 3).

"The dedicated support from Kimberly Parker, Mike Valdez, and Cedric Menezes has made a significant impact to the operational combat readiness of the Amphibious Ready Group, ensuring no contracting delays in rapid returning Kearsarge to full operational status," said Mundy.

The repairs for the ship were classified as a casualty repair category three, which is the second highest severity category. This means that the repair must be addressed immediately in order for the ship to continue in a mission ready state.

"A category 3 CASREP is a very high priority for us," said Valdez, a contract specialist. "We focus on it immediately and try to get it resolved as fast as possible so the ship can continue on its mission."

During the contracting phase for the repairs, contracting requirements changed five times and the team was able to work on and turn the contracts around within 24 hours.

The team worked diligently to provide rapid and thorough support to Task Force 51 by working through the weekend, enabling USS Kearsarge to get the repairs needed to return to full operational status.

Mundy also addressed each section of the contracting department individually, thanking them for their hard work and tireless dedication and support for the fleet.

"The FLCB C200 team performs minor miracles daily and it is terrific when a customer shows their appreciation," said Capt. Sean Egge, NAVSUP FLC Bahrain commanding officer.

"We are especially honored that Major General Mundy would take the time out of his extremely busy schedule to personally stop by and thank the entire shop - HSP, ship repair, shore support and policy - for the significant operational impact they have on his ability to accomplish the CTF-51/5th MEB mission."
