Navy Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Bahrain graduated its first class of independent duty postal clerks (IDPC), each of whom earned their Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC) 3001, May 22-26.

Chief Logistics Specialist Erwin Edralin and Chief Logistics Specialist Carlos Martinez from Center for Service Support Learning Site San Diego conducted the training in Bahrain.

Timothy Lynch, NAVSUP FLC Bahrain regional postal manager, was on hand to speak at the graduation ceremony and offered some words of wisdom to the graduates.

"Our first IDPC class has finished here in Bahrain and it was a success," said Lynch. "Fourteen active-duty and U.S. Navy Reserve students from various commands here in the region are now 3001 classified. We appreciate the help getting this started and hopefully it can become a regular thing."

"We identified a training opportunity for our Sailors," said Lt. Cmdr. Ben Banaszewski, "and after collaboration with FLC and forward deployed units in the AOR (area of responsibility), we determined that it would be more cost and operationally effective to bring the training team to Bahrain instead of sending Sailors to the school in the U.S."

NAVSUP FLC Bahrain has more than 180 military and civilian personnel providing logistics support in the region. The command is one of eight FLCs worldwide in the NAVSUP GLS enterprise.

NAVSUP GLS provides global logistics for a global Navy. The organization is made up of more than 6,500 military and civilian logistics professionals operating from 105 locations worldwide, providing an extensive array of integrated global logistics and contracting services to Navy, Marine Corps, joint operational units, and allied forces across all warfare enterprises.
