Reserve Component logistics Sailors completed a weeklong Reserve Logistics Representative (RLR) qualification program at Naval Station Mayport, Florida, June 10.

Representing Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Centers (NAVSUP FLCs) in Jacksonville, Yokosuka, and Bahrain, Sailors came from reserve units throughout the United States to participate in the comprehensive RLR training program. RLR training provides standardized key qualifications at apprentice, journeyman, and master levels of logistics support to maximize reserve logistics Sailors' knowledge base.

Capt. Re Bynum, commanding officer, NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville kicked off RLR training by welcoming the Sailors.

"I'm really proud of you and your drive to be ready through training and job integration with our team," said Bynum.

Product and Service leads from NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville provided extensive training in postal services, hazardous material, household goods, and warehousing/logistics support ensuring reserve Sailors have up-to-date qualifications. These Sailors will leave Mayport as qualified RLR trainers who will return to their respective reserve units and provide much needed logistics training at the local level, allowing reserve Sailors to be ready for mobilization.

RLR Training is a part of the NAVSUP Global Logistic Support initiative to implement a reserve optimization strategy in support of Navy reserve strategy initiatives to deliver a ready and accessible force. RLR training optimizes the support each reserve Sailor contributes, which in turn maximizes their value to the Navy.
