Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center (NAVSUP FLC) San Diego welcomed a new commanding officer when Capt. Michelle D. Morse relieved Capt. John T. Palmer aboard the USS Midway Museum in San Diego, Aug. 4.

Morse, a native of Birmingham, New York, previously served as chief for the Plans, Access and Capabilities Division of U.S. Transportation Command at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. She now takes the reins as the 47th commanding officer since the command's inception as the Naval Supply Depot in 1922.

Morse is a graduate of the Columbia School of Business, Carnegie Mellon University, and the University of Rochester, where she earned her commission through the Naval ROTC program in 1993. She holds naval aviation supply officer, surface warfare supply corps officer, and joint specialty officer designations.

Palmer became the 46th commanding officer in 2015. During his time in command, he led the joint military and civilian workforce to a multitude of recognized successes. Rear Adm. James McNeal, commander, NAVSUP Global Logistics Support (GLS), presented Palmer with the Legion of Merit for his competent and devoted leadership at the ceremony.

Palmer will report for his next assignment as director for Logistics, Fleet Supply and Ordnance (N4) for U.S. Pacific Fleet, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.

NAVSUP FLC San Diego, one of eight fleet logistics centers under NAVSUP GLS, provides operational logistics, business and support services to fleet, shore and industrial commands of the Navy, Coast Guard, Military Sealift Command, and other joint and allied forces. Services include contracting, regional transportation, fuel, material management, household goods movement support, postal and consolidated mail, warehousing, global logistics and husbanding, hazardous material management, and integrated logistics support.

NAVSUP GLS provides global logistics for a global Navy. The organization is made up of more than 6,300 military and civilian logistics professionals operating from 105 locations worldwide, providing an extensive array of integrated global logistics and contracting services to Navy, Marine Corps, joint operational units, and allied forces across all warfare enterprises.
