Personnel from Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center (NAVSUP FLC) Jacksonville donated school supplies at local elementary school Hyde Grove Early Learning Center during its open house Aug. 12.

The school supply drive is organized annually by the NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville wardroom. This year personnel from the Mayport detachment also participated, collecting donations during July and early August.

The efforts resulted in a donation of over $700 worth of school supplies.

Items donated included commonly needed items such as backpacks, pencils, crayons, cleaning wipes, and composition books, which were delivered to an enthusiastic Principal AuGena Sapp in time for the first day of school Aug. 15.

"Thank you so much for the donation," said Sapp. "What perfect timing, as we will be sharing supplies for the first of the school year, which is always a demanding time for all families."

In addition to donating school supplies, NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville wardroom personnel volunteered to tutor, mentor and be guest speakers for future planned events at Hyde Grove Early Learning Center. This outreach effort is part of a broader partnership between the Naval Air Station Jacksonville School Liaison Program, NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville, and local schools in need.
