More than 20 Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training (CNATT) service members and civilian employees participated in a one-day supervisor workshop Jan. 14 aboard Naval Air Station Pensacola.

The eight-hour course was designed to provide enterprise-level leadership a streamlined view of both CNATT Commanding Officer Capt. Terry Hammond's business concepts as well as the Chief of Naval Operations 2016 Strategic Priorities, according to CNATT Management Analyst Supervisor Richard Knutson.

"When leadership is capable of identifying potential gaps in the workflow, is aware of proven leadership tactics and how to recognize employees through appraisals, this can significantly improve the CNATT mission," he said. "When we're all working together - our leadership here and throughout our detachments around the world - we're ensuring our mission is met: delivering quality naval aviation training in the most efficient and effective manner."

Individual course segments included discussions on establishing and enhancing trust in the workplace, the importance of good appraisal writing, the role of supervisors and staff priorities.

Knutson said the workshop included supervisory personnel from CNATT headquarters directorates, and what they'll be able to take from the day-long course of instruction should provide benefits for the nearly 100 CNATT military and civilian employees.

"This course served to widen the perspective of individuals in supervisory roles and should increase productivity," he said. "Having courses such as this helps to improve supervisor-employee relationships as well as laterally increase communication."

CNATT is headquartered aboard Naval Air Station Pensacola, and develops, delivers and supports aviation technical training at 27 sites located throughout the continental United States and Japan.

CNATT is a technical training agent for the Naval Aviation Enterprise (NAE) an organization designed to advance and sustain Naval Aviation warfighting capabilities at an affordable cost, and is the largest training center under Naval Education and Training Command (NETC).
