MCPON Visits Oceana Training Unit, Talks with Petty Officer Association

Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON) Mike D. Stevens visited the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) Oceana in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Jan. 19 and spoke about the Navy's year-round training program for first class petty officers, CPO 365.

The MCPON's visit began with a meeting with CNATTU Senior Enlisted Advisor Senior Chief Aviation Ordnanceman (AW/SW) Mike McShane before hosting a private training session with CNATTU junior enlisted Sailors.

CPO 365 focuses on the priorities, values and ideals that Sailors should embrace to ultimately perform at the highest level as an enlisted service member.

CNATTU Oceana CPO 365 training began with a lesson on the history of the chief petty officer, then Stevens took the stage and addressed the crowd, talking about "A Tradition of Change: CPO Initiations to CPO 365," a book written by Master Chief Information Systems Technician James L. Leuci.

Before his departure, Stevens took a quick tour of CNATTU Oceana spaces, meeting Sailors while receiving a brief on the specialized technical training for F/A-18A-F Hornets, EA-18G Growlers and Automated Test Equipment aviation maintenance professionals at CNATTU Oceana employ.

CNATTU Oceana is a training unit of the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training located aboard Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida. CNATT develops, delivers, and supports aviation technical training at 27 sites located throughout the continental United States and Japan.

CNATT is a technical training agent for the Naval Aviation Enterprise (NAE) an organization designed to advance and sustain Naval Aviation warfighting capabilities at an affordable cost, and is the largest training center in the Naval Education and Training Command (NETC) domain.
