Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Southwest Senior Project Manager David Powell received a command coin from NAVFAC Atlantic Commander Rear Adm. Louis V. Cariello during a Jan. 20 presentation in San Diego for his work on Renewable Energy Program Office (REPO) projects.

"David has worked tirelessly over the past few months coordinating with Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach, Naval Base Ventura County, and NAS [Naval Air Station] Lemoore, Environmental Core and Asset Management Core, and various parties at REPO [headquarters] to ensure that all aspects of these very complicated projects are successful," said David Deiranieh, NAVFAC Southwest Pubic Works Business Line coordinator. "His efforts include numerous site visits and instrumental negotiations. Due to a few short notice staffing changes, David handled the workload during November and December for three full time employees and each project remained on schedule and working toward award as planned."

Powell's work included six project sites in Navy Region Southwest. Three of the project sites are in lease negotiations. Two project sites are in the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analysis stage. A sixth project is in the design phase.

"These projects will result in contributions to the SECNAV's 1 Gigawatt Goal and also offer in-kind consideration that will improve the installation's energy security," said Powell.
