Three Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center (NAVSUP FLC) Norfolk sites were recognized as recipients of the Commander, Naval Air Forces 2015 Ashore Blue "E" Supply Excellence Awards in a Feb. 4 message.

Regional Supply Office (RSO)/Aviation Support Det. (ASD) Norfolk, RSO/ASD Oceana and ASD Key West were recognized for the award, which is based on a combination of monthly effectiveness reports and the most recent Supply Management Inspection (SMI).

According to RSO/ASD Norfolk Officer in Charge Lt. Cmdr. Gail Mulleavy, this award is a result of the dedication and hard work of her military, civilian and contractor team working to meet or exceed type command (TYCOM) goals and to ensure all processes are followed to receive an "outstanding" on SMIs.

"There is continual communication with our various customers to ensure all goals are met and the flightline receives the best possible support," she added. "I am extremely proud and grateful for the hard work I see from my personnel."

According to RSO/ASD Oceana Officer in Charge Cmdr. Greg Mitchell, the SMI is a bi-annual inspection that can last up to a week. He said it looks at every aspect of the RSO, to ensure and certify its ability to support the strike fighter wing, the Fleet Readiness Center, and fleet customers.

"This award is the product of RSO Oceana personnel putting in the correct amount of effort and continuously making the sacrifices needed to support our mission," he explained. "Working at a master jet base, they are reminded daily of our significance and the impacts we have on the flight line."

Mulleavy agreed with this assessment, adding "you can't fly without supply!"
