First Class Petty Officer Association Sailors assigned to Naval Support Activity (NSA) Bahrain participated in a community relations project at DoDDS Bahrain School, March 29, as part of the command's continued commitment to the community.

Sailors from the installation participated in a variety of outdoor activities with the students, promoting physical fitness, positive social interaction, and simply having fun during the school's field day event.

The event was the first of several planned visits. The field day provides an environment that teaches camaraderie and teamwork, furthering bonds between classmates and friends.

"Today we all came out to interact with the school," said Master-at-Arms 1st Class Purcell Tabron. "It created a healthy relationship between us and the kids and it was a fun day [for] everybody. I'm glad to be out here and I like giving back to our community."

Bahrain School students, school facilitators, and parent volunteers appreciated the presence of the Naval Support Activity Bahrain Sailors.

"We always count on our volunteers," said Kim Baldus, a Bahrain School Parent Teacher Student Organization volunteer. "We really rely on our parents and volunteers from the base. It's a great connection and we rely on them heavily."

Sailors and parents who volunteered at Bahrain School worked with the middle school-aged children on a variety of outdoor games, including an obstacle course, a dunk tank, "capture the flag," and other sports and events. The volunteers were also on hand to help referee, reset obstacles, provide sportsman tips, and to help ensure a safe play environment.

"We're going to keep your contact information," said Baldus. "We want to use your volunteers again."

Naval Support Activity Bahrain enables the forward operations and responsiveness of U.S. and allied forces in support of Navy regions Europe, Africa, and Southwest Asia's missions to provide services to the fleet, fighter, and family.
