Capt. Thomas J. "Jack" Moreau assumed command of Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Norfolk, relieving Capt. Patrick O'Connor during a ceremony at Naval Station Norfolk Dec. 18.

O'Connor served as acting commanding officer since August 2015 and will reassume his duties as executive officer.

During his remarks, NAVSUP Global Logistics Support (GLS) Commander Rear Adm. James McNeal thanked O'Connor for his effort in leading the men and women of NAVSUP FLC Norfolk in providing seamless customer service to the fleet.

"Some of you have heard me refer to the famous words of Harry S. Truman when he said 'it is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit'" said O'Connor. "While I'll always believe that, recognition and thanks are still always appreciated."

O'Connor went on to explain that he was thankful for the Sailors, officers and civilians of NAVSUP FLC Norfolk, citing specific examples like Seaman Shamar Seaforth, NAVSUP FLC Norfolk Blue Jacket of the Year, among many others.

"It is impossible to recognize everyone in a command of more than 1,800 people," O'Connor said. "I am proud of this team as they always put the fleet first in Fleet Logistics Center."

Moreau came to NAVSUP FLC Norfolk from the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, where he served as the deputy director of the logistics programs and business operations division.

In his remarks, he laid out his three life key pillars that shape his commander's intent: know yourself as an individual and as an organization; he cited the 1,440 minutes that make up a day and advised the organization to spend them on what's important; and to "be excellent in all we do."

"Being excellent across the board - professionally, mentally, physically and spiritually - it is the foundation of true success," he added.
