Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center (NAVSUP FLC) Norfolk played host Nov. 4 to seven officers from the International Officer Supply Course (IOSCO) of the Navy Supply Corps School.

The nine week course consists of six weeks of course work in Newport, R.I., with three weeks of additional seminars, briefings, and tours of logistics facilities. NAVSUP FLC Norfolk is one of the multiple sites that students visit.

"This gives us the opportunity to show what NAVSUP FLC Norfolk does and to demonstrate the work of our superb team of professionals," said NAVSUP FLC Norfolk Deputy Operations Department Director, Cmdr. Fred Crawford.

He added that the students visited the Global Logistics Support Center, Fleet Assist Team, Navy Food Management Team, Logistics Support Center and SERVMART.

"This helps give them a view of how U.S. Navy supply and logistics work and how we support ships," he added.

According to NAVSUP FLC Norfolk Operations Department Director Bob Howard, the group was impressed by SERVMART, comparing it to a shopping mall of vendors for ship specific requirements.

"The idea of immediate fill of supply requirements for ships was very impressive to them," he explained.

The IOSCO students came from Argentina, Brunei, Egypt, Kuwait, and Pakistan.
