Logistics Specialist 1st Class Justin Wright from Navy Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Sigonella, Site Souda Bay was named the NAVSUP Global Logistics Support (GLS) enterprise Senior Sailor of the Year following a ceremony in San Diego, Nov. 19.

Wright was selected among eight finalist candidates representing the eight fleet logistics centers of the NAVSUP GLS enterprise operating around the world.

At the ceremony, the command also selected and honored:
- NAVSUP GLS Blue Jacket of the Year - Yeoman Seaman Maria Barron, NAVSUP FLC Sigonella;
- NAVSUP GLS Junior Sailor of the Year - Logistics Specialist 3rd Class Tyshaun Ezell, NAVSUP FLC Bahrain; and
- NAVSUP GLS Sailor of the Year - Logistics Specialist 2nd Class Brenda Mensah, NAVSUP FLC Sigonella

Command leaders also selected the NAVSUP GLS enterprise reserve stand out sailors.
- NAVSUP GLS Reserve Bluejacket of the Year - Logistics Specialist Seaman Adam Liburdi, NAVSUP FLC Yokosuka; NAVSUP GLS Reserve Junior Sailor of the Year - Logistics Specialist 3rd Class Shemonique Washington, NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville;
- NAVSUP GLS Reserve Sailor of the Year, Logistics Specialist 2nd Class Jae Um, NAVSUP FLC Yokosuka; and NAVSUP GLS Reserve Senior Sailor of the Year, Logistics Specialist 1st Class Daniel Baldaramos, NAVSUP FLC San Diego.

"I could not be more proud of you - and all the Sailors in the NAVSUP GLS enterprise - and the support you provide to the fleet day-in and day-out," said Rear Adm. James McNeal during the ceremony in front of the command's senior enlisted leaders from around the world. "You all have earned this. But, your job is not over. We are counting on you to continue to lead by example and make positive impacts on our great Navy throughout your careers."

As the active duty Senior Sailor of the Year, Wright will represent NAVSUP GLS at the annual Naval Supply Systems Command echelon II Sailor of the Year competition.

"This recognition is humbling. Every finalist who is here today deserves this and could be in my position right now," said Wright. "The circumstances and the quality of the Sailors I have to lead made this award possible."

To earn this recognition, Wright expertly led 16 Sailors and eight civilians in all aspects of logistics support for 65 visiting warships, Military Sealift Command (MSC) vessels, submarines, and a Carrier Strike Group. He oversaw the efficient coordination of all port services and the movement of 512,029 pounds of cargo.

In addition to providing world-class logistics support to incoming vessels, upon notification of the transition from the commercial Husbanding Service Provider contract in Souda Bay, Wright volunteered to develop the command's 'organic' husbanding port services support model.

After completing 80 hours of online training, Wright became a proficient contracting officer representative (COR) - a position normally held by senior enlisted Sailors or officers.

"It is apparent that LS1 Wright genuinely cares about his Sailors, helps them realize their goals, and celebrates in their successes," said NAVSUP FLC commanding officer, Capt. Chris Parker. "He is a leader in every sense of the word; he makes the growth and development of his people his top priority."

NAVSUP GLS provides global logistics for a global Navy. The organization is made up of more than 6,500 military and civilian logistics professionals operating from 105 locations worldwide providing an extensive array of integrated global logistics and contracting services to Navy, Marine Corps, joint operational units and allied forces across all warfare enterprises.
