Command Employees Earn 14 NAVSEA Excellence Awards

Fourteen Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) employees took home Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) technical excellence awards in October.
Fourteen Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) employees took home Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) technical excellence awards in October.

NAVSEA Warfare Excellence Awards were presented Nov. 16 in a local ceremony at NSWC PCD while the NAVSEA Excellence Awards were presented at the Washington Navy Yard Oct. 27.

Eight NSWC PCD employees were part of a Naval Sea Systems Excellence Command (NAVSEA) Mine Countermeasure Mission Package (MCM MP) Logistics Team Award. The NAVSEA Excellence Awards were for outstanding performance within the 3rd and 4th quarters in fiscal year 2014.

David Silnutzer, who is assigned to NSWC PCD's Tactical Systems Branch (Code E24), earned a top NAVSEA Excellence accolade in the individual category for his engineering support to the Mobile Landing Platform #3 Afloat Forward Staging Base project. The project is a $21 million acquisition program that supports the Military Sealift Command with modularized enterprise networks and command and control communications.

NSWC PCD Commanding Officer Capt. Phillip Dawson, USN, announced the NAVSEA Warfare Center awardees for fiscal year 2014 in an email released Sept. 10.

The 2014 NAVSEA Warfare Center Collaboration Award was presented to the Warfare Center Multi-Platform Mission Package Innovation Cell for acquiring innovative options for multi-platform mission package/mission module concepts. NSWC PCD emplyees who received the 2014 NAVSEA Warfare Center Collaboration Award were Dr. Kerry Commander, Steve Hunt and Greg Garcia.

The 2014 NAVSEA Warfare Center Innovation Award was presented to the Division's 3-D Passive Acoustic Imaging team members Rodolfo T. Arrieta and Dr. Wendell J. Saintval. Members earned the award for the development of 3-D passive acoustic imaging using advanced array design concepts and beamforming techniques to improve spatial resolution and target localization.

Lastly, the 2014 NAVSEA Warfare Transformation and Change Agent Award was presented to NSWC PCD employees Jonathan L. King and Joshua A. Slaughter for their role in the SWARM Software Development Initiative. King and Slaughter earned this award for their part in designing, developing and implementing SWARM, a software framework that eliminates direct sensor upgrades, reduces life cycle costs and leads to a decrease in the end-to-end timeline required for MCM missions.
