Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) is highlighting how it is supporting the Sailor with "Fuel to Fight" at the Navy League's Sea Air Space Expo April 13-15.

NAVSUP's exhibit shows that by making sure both Sailors and the equipment they use get the proper "fuel," we are optimizing our strategic readiness. The exhibit features five daily cooking demonstrations by Navy culinary specialists (CSs), and highlights NAVSUP Energy initiatives to support "The Great Green Fleet."

"The exceptional demands placed on military personnel make good nutrition crucial," said Rear Adm. Jonathan A. Yuen, commander, NAVSUP. "From nutrition basics, to performance nutrition, to weight management strategies, NAVSUP's dietitian works with NAVSUP's Navy Food Service division to make sure Sailors have the tools they need to make healthy choices both at work and at home."

CSs are demonstrating their skills and talents cooking dishes using ingredients from the Navy Standard Core Menu, the menu cycle used to serve Sailors aboard ships every day. Recipe cards are available for the dishes.
NAVSUP Energy personnel are on hand to explain how the team provides engineering technical expertise for design and construction of fuel storage projects at all naval installations, as well as how NAVSUP Energy continues to support the Navy's commitment to move away from a reliance on petroleum and dramatically increase our use of alternate energy.

"The Navy is no stranger in the race to find new ways to both reduce our energy consumption and use newly developed green technologies to meet established SECNAV energy goals," said Yuen. "NAVSUP Energy plays an integral role in the upcoming 'Sail the Great Green Fleet 2016' and will continue to support the Navy's energy goals."

The Sea-Air-Space Exposition is the largest maritime symposium in the world, attracting nearly 10,000 attendees. It features more than 200 defense industry exhibits and professional seminars with top civilian and military leaders from the U.S. Department of Defense, Homeland Security, Maritime Administration, and the defense industry who provide up-to-the-minute developments on policy and programs of the maritime services.

NAVSUP provides U.S. naval forces with quality supplies and services. With headquarters in Mechanicsburg, Pa., and employing a diverse, worldwide workforce of more than 22,500 military and civilian personnel, NAVSUP oversees logistics programs in the areas of supply operations, conventional ordnance, contracting, resale, fuel, transportation, and security assistance. In addition, NAVSUP is responsible for quality-of-life issues for our naval forces, including food service, postal services, Navy Exchanges, and movement of household goods.
