Sailors assigned to the submarine tender USS Frank Cable (AS 40) celebrated Spouse Appreciation Month at USO Guam located in the Royal Orchid Hotel, Tumon, May 29.

Capt. Mark Benjamin, commanding officer, USS Frank Cable, opened up the floor by offering remarks to the spouses, thanking them for their contributions and sacrifices made each day for the well-being of Sailors and fellow service members, before presenting them with flowers and certificates of appreciation.

"You prepare our homes for typhoons when the ship has to go underway. You fix our cars; mow the lawn. You do the things that we normally would accomplish as partners," said Benjamin. "You help us keep it all together."

The event was held at USO Guam in cooperation with Frank Cable's Family Readiness Group (FRG) and Frank Cable Ombudsmen.

"We organize and plan events for Frank Cable," said Chelsea Evans, president of the Frank Cable FRG. "May is Military Spouse Appreciation Month and is the time when we really get to say thank you to all the spouses for all the things they do for our Sailors."

After gifts and certificates were passed out, Sailors and their spouses enjoyed food and drinks as part of a special luncheon provided by the USO and Frank Cable's FRG volunteers.

Frank Cable, forward deployed to the island of Guam, conducts maintenance and support of submarines and surface vessels deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility.
