Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 6 Changes Command

The "Screamin' Indians" of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 6 held a change of command ceremony at Naval Air Station North Island in Coronado, California, July 2.

During the ceremony, Cmdr. Ryan J. Logan relieved Cmdr. Stephen J. Bury as HSC-6's commanding officer.

Bury, a native of Jacksonville, Florida, is a 1996 graduate of the University of Florida. While acting as HSC-6's commanding officer, Bury led more than 230 aviators and maintenance personnel through numerous exercises and detachments including Air Wing Fallon and RIMPAC 2014. Under Bury's leadership, HSC-6 executed more than 2,800 flight hours, expended more than 97,000 rounds of ammunition, and safely fired 9 HELLFIRE missiles.

Bury's next assignment is to the OPNAV staff in Washington, D.C.

Logan, a native of Dayton, Ohio, is a 1997 graduate of Miami University. He has served with Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron 7; HSC-12; Rotary Wing Weapons School, Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center in Fallon, Nevada; and Carrier Air Wing 9 staff. He has deployed numerous times in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. Logan has earned the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and various campaign and unit awards.

HSC-6's mission is to conduct all-weather rotary wing support operations in open ocean and littoral environments as an integral part of the air wing by flying the MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter. Primary mission areas are command, control and communication, logistics, fleet support operations, mobility, combat search and rescue, anti-surface warfare and support of special operations forces.
