NAVFAC Southwest PPV along with its partner LMH and NAS Lemoore started a program May 4 to help protect the fleet from the novel coronavirus pandemic by moving Sailors permanently assigned to the air station from on base barracks to vacant PPV family housing units.

NAVFAC Southwest Public Private Venture (PPV) along with its partner Lincoln Military Housing and Naval Air Station (NAS) Lemoore started a program May 4 to help protect the fleet from the novel coronavirus pandemic by moving Sailors permanently assigned to the air station from on base barracks to vacant PPV family housing units. This allowed healthy Sailors from deploying units to be isolated prior to their deployment.

“The operation has gone very smoothly with both the Navy installation team and Lincoln working diligently to ensure this initiative is successful,” said Marina Betancourt, Lemoore Housing director. “The initiative has been executed very smoothly and the support by Lincoln Military Housing has been superb.”

The 1,630 family housing units onboard NAS Lemoore were privatized in 2007 under the Military Housing Privatization Initiative and are included in the San Diego Family Housing project.  The Navy’s partners in this Public Private Venture are Lincoln Military Housing and Clark Realty Capital.

Moving healthy Sailors out of the barracks has also made rooms available to Sailors required to quarantine or isolate due to potential exposure to the novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19.

“I truly appreciate the quick response Lincoln has provided under these circumstances,” said Capt. Douglas Peterson, NAS Lemoore commanding officer. “Our ability to support the Air Wing’s pre-deployment requirements in this rapidly changing environment has been enhanced with our partnership with Lincoln Military Housing.”
