Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Yokosuka welcomed aboard new Executive Director (ED) Tim Adkins, Aug. 23.

Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Yokosuka welcomed aboard new Executive Director (ED) Tim Adkins, Aug. 23.

Adkins is currently serving as the deputy director for the FLC Yokosuka Regional Services Department, overseeing hazardous materials, household goods and material management. He takes over for Andrew Benson who left the command to take on the role of executive director at NAVSUP FLC San Diego.

“Tim’s selection as ED is a testament to the culmination of a career marked by excellence which I've been fortunate enough to witness first-hand,” said NAVSUP FLC Yokosuka Commanding Officer (CO) Capt. Frank Nevarez “It is very gratifying to see leaders you know and respect ascend into roles of greater influence in our supply community and in our Navy.”

As FLC Yokosuka ED, Adkins will be the senior civilian advisor to the CO. He will ensure the CO’s vision and NAVSUP Commander’s Guidance are adhered to and executed throughout the FLCY area of responsibility. In addition, as ED he will be charged with fostering a culture that promotes and rewards creativity, ethical behavior and safety.

Prior to coming to Japan, Adkins worked for 19 years within the NAVSUP enterprise, including NAVSUP Headquarters and 10 years at NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support, where he managed integrated logistics for key systems, such as the Navy’s AEGIS Ballistic Missile Defense System. He also served as the aircraft carrier platform manager, ensuring integrated logistics support was provided during carrier availabilities.

While at NAVSUP Headquarters, Adkins also worked as an analyst for the allowancing process and later served as product and service lead for material control, where he modernized the command’s inventory accuracy program and worked with all of the Navy’s systems command, and other services, to develop logistics plans and partnerships.

“Throughout my career with NAVSUP, I have worked on many different projects and programs and have had a myriad of responsibilities. Nothing I have done in the past is as important or as rewarding as the work done here at Yokosuka directly supporting our forward deployed naval forces,” said Adkins. “It's an honor and a privilege to be entrusted with the responsibility of the executive director, and I'm extremely excited for this opportunity.”

Adkins is a native of Lincoln, Nebraska and began his career with NAVSUP in 1999, shortly after graduating from the University of Nebraska. He is a certified Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act, DAWIA, level three professional in Life Cycle Management. He is also a graduate of the NAVSUP Corporate Management Development Program and Penn State Marine Corps Logistics Executive Program.

NAVSUP FLC Yokosuka is one of eight FLCs under Commander, NAVSUP. Headquartered in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and employing a diverse, worldwide workforce of more than 22,500 military and civilian personnel, NAVSUP's mission is to provide supplies, services, and quality-of-life support to the Navy and joint warfighter.
