NAVFAC Pacific Awards $63 Million Contract for Fuel Tank Project in Australia

Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Pacific awarded today a $63 million firm-fixed price contract to Nova Nacap JV of Napa, Calif. for the construction of bulk fuel storage tanks in Darwin, Northern Territory of Australia.

“The Navy is pleased to award this contract as it further enhances our partnership with the Australian U.S. Force Posture Initiative team, while enabling the military mission in the Pacific,” said NAVFAC Pacific Operations Officer Capt. Tres Meek. “To deliver this fuel tank project on time will require tight collaboration between the U.S. Navy construction field office, Australian Defence Force, the selected contractor, and the continued incredible support from the Northern Territory community.”

The work to be performed provides for two nominal 8 million liter cut and cover bulk fuel storage tanks with pump vaults, truck unloading and loading gantry, filter equipment and building, operations facility with laboratory, modifications fuel farm #7, fuel system controls, pipelines, demolition, site preparation, pavements, grading and draining improvements, supporting utility infrastructure, and incidental work. The work also includes a new liquid dry breathing oxygen (LDBO) facility and demolition of the existing LBDO facility.

Work will be performed in Darwin, Northern Territory of Australia and is expected to be completed by October 2022. The contract was competitively procured via the Navy Electronic Commerce Online website with two proposals received.
