Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 6 held a change of command ceremony aboard Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story during which Cmdr. Brian Cummings relieved Cmdr. Evan Colbert as commanding officer, Sept. 27.

The ceremony was the culmination of two years at the helm of the “Kegbusters” of EODMU 6 for Colbert, during which he successfully deployed 12 EODMU 6 platoons and a task group headquarters, executing combat and contingency operations, major exercises and theater security cooperation engagements in support of five geographic combatant commanders.

“To the officers and crew of EOD Mobile Unit Six, your hard work is inspiring, your achievements are noteworthy, and most importantly your dedication to country, the Navy and the EOD community is what inspired me every day to be the best CO possible,” Colbert said in his remarks.

Under his leadership as commander, task group 56.1, his Sailors completed 11 multi-lateral exercises and exchanges with strategic theater partner nations, 76 explosive and forensic exploitation operations and five fly-away EOD responses of theater and national security significance.

Following the remarks, Cummings formally assumed command from Colbert.

“I am excited and honored to wear the title of Kegbuster. In just the short time I have been onboard, I am in awe of your professionalism and dedication to excellence and mission accomplishment,” Cummings said to the EODMU 6 crew.

EODMU 6, headquarterd at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, provides credible, combat-ready EOD forces capable of deploying anywhere, any time in support of national interests.
