Last month, one of Naval Support Activity (NSA) Bahrain’s firefighters, Battalion Chief of Operations Nathan Hollway, participated in the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers 5K Run/Walk. The event, which took place on Sept. 29, began in Brooklyn and ended in Manhattan.
According to Hollway, the event paid homage to all first responders and service members who make sacrifices in the line of duty. The race/walk specifically retraces the last steps of New York City firefighter Stephen Siller, who lost his life on Sept. 11, 2001.
Proceeds from the event went to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Tower Foundation’s programs, which help injured military veterans and the families of first responders who lose their lives in the line of duty.
"Running through the same tunnel that Stephen Siller ran through was emotional. He was one of the many heroes that passed away on that tragic day. I felt honored to participate in the event and represent the NSA Bahrain fire department," Hollway said.
