More than 300 staff, family members and friends were in attendance at Center for Surface Combat Systems Unit (CSCSU) Great Lakes Thanksgiving potluck luncheon Nov. 27.

Organized by CSCSU Cheryll Wilbourn and Chief Electronics Technician Lee Steen, the meal served included deep fried turkeys, smoked pork, three meat smoked chili, and Kentucky Derby Pie.

“Anyone who attends has no reason to leave hungry,” Steen, leading chief petty officer for Apprentice Technical Training Student Control at CSCSU Great Lakes, said. “CSCSU Great Lakes is known for staff dedicated to providing the best trained Sailors for the fleet. We also are known for the amazing cooks that we have in the command that go all out in providing awesome food to help celebrate and give thanks to each other.”

Bringing Sailors together can help build friendships, boosts morale and enhance the Navy's esprit de corps.

“The CSCSU Great Lakes team did an outstanding job planning and executing the command Thanksgiving potluck luncheon for over 290 staff members,” said CSCSU Great Lakes Commanding Officer Capt. Richie Enriquez. “It was a successful morale and teambuilding event, everyone had a great time, and no one left hungry. I believe it is beneficial for staff and family to get together outside of work and just relax, break bread and have fun.”
