Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Bahrain celebrated its diverse and professional workforce with its inaugural Diversity Day, Apr. 11. Diversity Day was established by the NAVSUP FLC Bahrain diversity team to celebrate the diversity and inclusion of different cultures in the workforce.
The purpose of the event was to highlight team building and cultural appreciation of the NAVSUP FLC Bahrain workforce consisting of 26 nationalities.
“Cultural diversity strengthens our community. It is through diversity we rise above individualism and bolster the team efforts toward greatness,” said NAVSUP FLC Bahrain CDMCM (AW/SW) Conroy McKenzie.
Diversity is pivotal to the commanding officer’s philosophy of proficiency, professionalism and productivity in the workplace. Through its diverse organization, NAVSUP FLC Bahrain’s staff continues to build collaborative relationships through initiatives such as this Diversity Day.
The diversity team created a list of sporting activities from various cultures in which employees could participate. Multiple staff members learned to play cricket for the first time. Others enjoyed playing flag football, ultimate Frisbee, and tug of war while enjoying food and music from different cultures.
“The event was focused on building team cohesion and breaking down barriers while enhancing the bonds of friendship to positively affect our mission. Having events like Diversity Day help the employees live the spirit of one team, one fight,” said Jacqueline Adams, Diversity Officer.
