Sailors aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) who are eligible to test for the E-6 advancement exam later this fall began signing their worksheets, 8 July, in the ship’s distance learning classroom.
Advancement exam worksheets are required to be signed by Sailors who are up to take the exam with the new additional requirement of completing their Professional Military Knowledge Eligibility Exam (PMK-EE).
“Worksheet signings are important for Sailors to complete because, for one, they cannot participate in the examination without signing it,” said Chief Personnel Specialist Natalie Camden, Truman’s educational services office leading chief petty officer. “Along with signing their worksheets, Sailors are also required to complete their PMK-EE in order to take the examination as well.”
Past evaluations are added into the overall average on the exam scores, so while Sailors are signing their worksheets, it is important for them to verify that their average is correct. Signing the worksheets also gives them the opportunity to verify any additional points they can receive on their exam score.
“When Sailors go to sign their worksheets, they need to ensure their performance mark average is correct and that any additional award points or college points are accounted for and correct,” said Camden. “Those extra points can be the deciding factor on if a Sailor gets advanced or not to the next paygrade.”
The E-6 worksheet signing window began on 8 July and continues to 13 July.
Truman is currently underway conducting composite training unit exercise (COMPTUEX) with the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group (HSTCSG).
COMPTUEX is an intensive, month-long exercise designed to fully integrate units of HSTCSG, while testing the strike group's ability as a whole to carry out sustained combat operations from the sea. Ships, squadrons and staffs will be tested across every core warfare area within their mission sets through a variety of simulated and live events, including air warfare, strait transits, and responses to surface and subsurface contacts and electronic attacks.
HSTCSG is scheduled to deploy later this year. Strike group elements participating in COMPTUEX include Truman and embarked Carrier Air Wing One; staffs from Carrier Strike Group 8 and Destroyer Squadron 28, the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy (CG 60); and the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers USS Ramage (DDG 61), USS Lassen (DDG 82), USS Forrest Sherman (DDG 98) and USS Farragut (DDG 99).
