Commodore, Navy Recruiting Region West, Capt. Glen O’Loughlin visited Navy Recruiting District San Diego July 29-31.
O’Loughlin met with Recruiters at Navy Recruiting Station's (NRS) Clairemont, NRS National City, NRS Chula Vista, NRS Imperial Beach, NRS College Grove, NRS El Cajon, NRS Poway and NRS Escondido as well as processors at Military Entrance Processing Station San Diego.
While meeting with Recruiters at NRS National City, O’Loughlin discussed the future of Navy Recruiting, including goals, process improvements, and the challenges of Recruiting duty.
“I realize what you do is not easy, but I appreciate what you do,” said O’Loughlin. “You are changing people’s lives on a daily basis. You meet people every day who may not know anything about the Navy, but by the time their head hits their pillow that night, they have a whole world of possibility open to them. You have changed a life, and that’s what makes a great Recruiter.”
O’Loughlin is in San Diego ahead of NRD San Diego’s change of command. Cmdr. Jason Eckhardt will relieve Cmdr. Patrick Copeland in a ceremony August 1.
Established January 1975, NRD San Diego encompasses 210,000 square miles covering Arizona, Nevada and Southern California. Headquartered at Naval Base Point Loma, NRD San Diego has more than 50 recruiting stations in the tristate region and employs more than 300 recruiters, support personnel and civilians.
