More than 50 staff, family members and friends were in attendance at Training Support Center (TSC) Great Lakes Career Day event August 16.
TSC held the event to offer family and friends of staff a look into what work life is like for their Sailors.
“Our TSC team, uniformed and civilians alike, are highly dependent on the support of their families for them to accomplish their jobs in a highly proficient and professional manner,” said TSC Commanding Officer Capt. David Dwyer. “It is important for the command to recognize that support and to showcase to the families what we do each day. Having a TSC Career Day allows families to come to work and see what we do, and affords us an opportunity to payback that appreciation with activities throughout the morning and lunch.”
Organized by the Petty Officer Association (POA) guests toured Boatswains Mate and Damage Control “A” School, and TSC Student Indoctrination building. Following the tour guests were treating to a cookout and games were set up for the children.
“Today was a great time; it was great showing the family a little of what we do at TSC,” said Navy Military Training Instructor Navy Counselor 1st Class Keri L. Childs, TSC command career counselor and president of TSC POA. “We gave them a glimpse into how we impact the lives of our students and how their support and understanding helps us in accomplishing our mission.”
