Center for Surface Combat Systems Unit (CSCSU) Great Lakes announced Director of Training Dean McCarty as its 2018 Civilian of the Year, Jan. 17.

CSCSU Great Lakes Commanding Officer Cmdr. Ricardo Enriquez said the selection process was highly competitive, which reflects the high quality and commitment to excellence demonstrated by civilians at the command.

McCarty oversees 21 courses of instruction for 10 rates throughout five school houses. His efforts towards the implementation of Block learning and Ready, Relevant Learning for more than 10,000 Sailors who attend CSCSU Great Lakes annually, were instrumental in the Navy’s continued drive toward a career-long learning continuum.
