Naval Aviation Enterprise (NAE) leadership recognized Calvin Farmer with its Outstanding Performance Award during an NAE Air Board Jan. 9.
Farmer serves as the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Advance Analytics and Innovation Lead for the NAE. He spearheads the development of several data analysis tools and innovations such as Enterprise Dashboards and the Supply Optimization Model, which have all been important in understanding the current and predicted readiness posture of several type/model/series aircraft platforms.
Farmer was honored for his positive and lasting impact on the organization. According to the letter of appreciation signed by Vice Adm. Dean Peters, Cmdr., NAVAIR, Farmer has ensured that Naval Aviation aircraft programs receive the highest level of maintenance and supply support.
“Calvin and his team have been key enablers in direct support to the CNAF [Commander, Naval Air Forces] Readiness Analytics Group in development of the Air Boss’ report card metric,” Peters said. “The NAE continues to benefit from your hard work, and each of us is appreciative of what you have done in support of the team.”
Farmer said he joined the NAE team because Naval Air Systems Logistics and Industrial Operations (AIR 6.0) is developing tools to help the NAE get aircraft back into a mission capable status.
“I believe that there is huge value in having all of the proper stakeholders working together in support of Naval Aviation, rather than each group operating separately in their own stovepipe,” continued Farmer. “I realized the value when I learned just how many different pieces of the chain are involved in maintaining an aircraft. Each of those different pieces has an owning organization, and the NAE allows that collaboration to happen.”
Comprised of leaders collaborating to pursue the best interests of Naval Aviation, the NAE Air Board typically recognizes one Sailor, Marine or civilian employee each month for their outstanding Enterprise-centric contributions to Naval Aviation. Award winners serve as positive examples of the enterprise approach. They routinely illustrate a commitment to the NAE principles of process improvement, a willingness to challenge assumptions, a focus on effectiveness and efficiency and a commitment to the greater good of naval aviation.
Naval Aviation leaders distribute the monthly NAE Outstanding Performance Award to promote a culture of cost-wise readiness.
