Training Support Center (TSC) Great Lakes awarded Senior and Junior Civilians of the Quarter during a ceremony, Jan. 24.

The civilian of the quarter selection board reviewed submissions from a large number of very-qualified candidates. In the end, Thaddeus Marion was named Senior Civilian of the Quarter and Jeri Torre was named Junior Civilian of the Quarter.

“Mr. Marion's and Ms. Torre's daily dedication to achieving the command's mission is what we have come to expect from the TSC civilians,” said Mike Bilak, executive director of TSC. “Their recognition as Senior and Junior Civilian of the Quarter is well deserved, and serves as a reminder of the work and achievements of the dedicated team of military and civilians at TSC.”

Marion led the administrative office to unprecedented successes and process improvements across the board. His dynamic foresight and proactive leadership ensured exceptional customer service for staff and students. During this quarter, he managed the production, accuracy, and timeliness of more than 80 evaluations, 25 personal awards, and numerous command correspondence, ensuring all personnel received quality work and support. Additionally, he also provided administrative assistance to all departments and ensured the executive leadership team was on schedule with all correspondence and administrative tasks.

As drug program coordinator assistant, Torre assisted in managing a complex urinalysis program, ensuring strict compliance with chief of naval operations (OPNAV) testing requirements. Her knowledge of the Navy Drug Testing Program has been fundamental to the smooth transition of recent procedural changes. Her guidance and expertise proved invaluable in the processing of more than 4,000 student drug tests, during an unplanned command sweep. Torre’s attention to detail resulted in a well-run evolution and inclusion of recent procedural changes into the processing of urinalysis testing. Her willingness to go above and beyond contributed significantly, not only to the October 2018 command sweep, but also to accomplishing the command’s mission readiness.
