The NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center Norfolk Navy Food Management Team hosted an advancement package review January 30, to assist first class petty officers, chiefs and senior chiefs eligible for advancement.
According to Chief Machinist’s Mate Hector Martinez, a NFMT instructor, the event attracted 90 attendees, who had their advancement packages reviewed by a team of 13 master chiefs. The annual event is open to E-6 and above from inside and outside the Navy Supply community.
“The insightful guidance and knowledge the master chiefs possess is instrumental in the development of the potential future enlisted leaders of the Navy,” Martinez explained.
Attendees are instructed to bring their performance summary report, last 5 annual evaluations, their history of assignments and any other documents they would deem important to be seen by promotion boards.
“The master chiefs on the panel provide constructive feedback to support all Sailors who take the opportunity, providing guidance to ensure the packages are competitive and favorable to potential board members” he added.
Martinez explained that this is an important part of a Sailor’s process to prepare for advancement to the next level and the Navy Food Management Team is proud to host events like this that help the fleet.
“It's an honor to aid in the growth and professional development of junior Sailors,” he said. “For all Chiefs, it is our primary responsibility to the Sailor and the Navy.”
