Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Assistant Commander for Financial Management and Comptroller Robin Porterfield, Senior Executive Service (SES), visited NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Pearl Harbor for a NAVSUP Echelon III visit Feb. 12-14.
Upon arrival, Porterfield received a command overview brief presented by Capt. Eric A. Morgan, commanding officer of NAVSUP FLC Pearl Harbor. Then she walked through several departments meetingt with personnel face-to-face and learning how each department supports the warfighter.
The visit included an all-hands call, Porterfield met with more than 300 military and civilian personnel and discussed NAVSUP’s top four priorities; people, fleet readiness, reform and audit.
“I spent the last couple of days learning and seeing what you do firsthand,” said Porterfield. “What you do is very complex and far reaching. It is nice to see how you support the fleet and what we can do from headquarters to help you.”
Porterfield also accompanied Morgan to recognize exceptional team members for their dedicated contributions and outstanding achievements during an awards presentation ceremony.
“I shook a lot of hands and that is a great sign of how you are succeeding in your mission,” said Porterfield. “The fact that you had so many people receiving awards was fantastic!”
During the three-day visit, Porterfield also toured the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility, traveled to the Pacific Missile Range Facility to meet with the NAVSUP FLC Pearl Harbor contracting team, and met with regional leaders supported by NAVSUP FLC Pearl Harbor to gain a ‘customer’s perspective’ on the services the command provides to the fleet.
NAVSUP FLC Pearl Harbor is one of eight FLCs under Commander, NAVSUP. Headquartered in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and employing a diverse, worldwide workforce of more than 22,500 military and civilian personnel, NAVSUP's mission is to provide supplies, services, and quality-of-life support to the Navy and joint warfighter.
