Twelve Naval Facilities and Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center (EXWC) Mobile Utilities Support Equipment (MUSE) completed the Cummins High Horse Power class, where they learned in-depth trouble shooting and maintenance training on Cummins engines.

MUSE technicians are a highly skilled asset, providing and supporting power solutions for the Navy worldwide. This responsibility requires a thorough understanding of the various resources that MUSE units utilize throughout the course of their missions.

Cummins vendor training is essential to the continued education and development of these technicians, and is developed to familiarize them with the most intimate workings of the QST 30 and QSK 50 engines.

At the training center, technicians learn fuel, oil, coolant, air, and electrical control systems, and operate the Cummins insight, in power, and quick serve operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance programs to identify and fix real faults on operating engine trainers.

Course completion gives the technicians the skills required to maintain, operate, and repair the units in a fast-paced, high-stress combat environments.

"The more exposure you get to our engines and systems, the more knowledge is gained," said Jeff Barratt, a senior instructor at the Cummins training center. "This class will helps students learn to fix it right the first time."

Construction Mechanic 1st Class Scott, Mignogna further expounds on the importance of the class, "This class has given us more than just knowledge, it provides us with a confidence boost to understand the issues and solve them better."

MUSE technicians are regarded as the technical experts of the Naval Construction Force and provide interim power solutions for commands all over the world.
