Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Pacific awarded an $8.8 million construction contract Aug. 9 to Cockram Construction Australia Pty Ltd. of Abbotsford, Victoria, Australia for construction of an electronic equipment building (EEB) and supporting infrastructure for the combined Communications Gateway Geraldton at the Australian Defence Satellite Communication Station, Kojarena, Western Australia.

The work to be performed provides for construction of the EEB with site preparation, utility work and supporting facilities for the Department of Defense Teleport Satellite Communication System. The EEB will be concrete-framed, supported on conventional shallow concrete foundations.

Work will be performed in Kojarena, Western Australia and is expected to be completed by March 2020. The contract was competitively procured via the Federal Business Opportunities website with two proposals received.
