NAVSUP Business Systems Center hosted a booth at WEST 2018, the Navy's premier conference and exposition on the West Coast. The three-day event at the San Diego Convention Center brought together military and technology leaders to encourage discussion and collaboration.

Among the DOD's military and civilian leaders who visited: Dr. Kelly Fletcher, acting Department of the Navy Chief Information Officer.

Dr. Fletcher shared her insights into cybersecurity, risk management and the digital transformation. "My passion is really in the business systems space. I care about our HR data, our logistics data, our financial data, and I think when we say we want to make a digital transformation, we want this information to be seamlessly available," Dr. Fletcher said.

Vickie Hardy, NAVSUP BSC Public Affairs Officer, asked Dr. Fletcher about the need for an agile Navy regarding technology and the importance of collaboration with industry leaders to ensure our data-driven capabilities are cutting edge. "I am interested in learning more about Navy Business Intelligence Services offered at BSC. I have been hearing good things from my counterparts," said Fletcher.

Tom Wirfel, NAVSUP BSC Data Strategy Lead, participated in a panel discussion, sharing Navy Enterprise Data for Business Systems. The forum provided insights on data related to quality, management, sharing, and on-demand services.

The annual conference, held Feb. 6-8, gave attendees a unique opportunity to learn about the successes, concerns, and vision of some of our highest ranking military decision-makers. BSC also showcased its own successes with the release of two videos on Navy Business Intelligence Services (NBIS) and One Touch Support (OTS). Dozens of booth attendees got an insider's look at how these applications accelerate digital solutions in providing real-time support to our warfighters.

"It has been an excellent opportunity to connect with other professionals and learn what the latest offerings are," said Mr. Steve Bowman, Deputy Director, San Diego BSC Office, "The exhibit is fascinating, and it was great to collaborate with senior leaders while hosting the BSC booth during the conference."

Katerina Lalioti, Information Technology Specialist for NAVSUP BSC San Diego office, agreed. "The Conference has been very educational, learning about the Navy's vision and options that are available to us."

"The conference was an excellent opportunity to not only raise awareness of our mission at BSC, but to gauge the direction of our customers and the defense IT industry," said Kevin Bowersox, One Touch Support Project Manager.

Hardy added, "Insights from the keynote speakers were encouraging with the intent of modernizing the Navy's fleet, hiring people with the right mindset and providing our employees with the training they need, provide them with an important mission and then get out of their way to allow them to excel."

NAVSUP BSC continues to Accelerate Digital Solutions and is the leader in Business IT Systems!

And we're just getting started. Look for us at the DON CIO East Conference, 23-25 April 2018!
