Training Support Center Hampton Roads (TSCHR) named Michelle Nelson as Senior Civilian of the Year (COY) and Elisa London as Junior COY, during an awards ceremony held at the Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana Dam Neck Annex, Feb. 16.

Nelson is the TSCHR information technologies (IT) network security officer. She coordinates the execution of a multitude of highly complex technical tasks in support of Naval Education and Training Command's mission to enable fleet readiness. Nelson ensured network vulnerability assessment operations were executed at the highest standards, which allowed for a superb cyber security posture throughout the calendar year.

Nelson is originally from Pittsburgh. She has a total of 11 years of experience at TSCHR.

"When I learned I was receiving this award, I was excited, surprised, appreciative and especially honored that my directorate nominated me," said Nelson.

Elisa London is originally from Queens, New York. She retired from the Navy as a logistics supply first class petty officer from TSCHR Supply in 2016. For the past year, she has been working as a civilian, inventory control and logistics technician in TSCHR IT directorate.

London, along with the asset management team, temporarily assumed asset manager duties for five months while the job was vacant. London and the team provisioned $247,000 in repair parts, processed 36,000 in year-end funds, and received and staged more than 450,000 pieces of equipment and materials for the Dam Neck Virtual Desktop Infrastructure and Windows 10 refresh projects, attaining an unprecedented 100 percent overall grading for four months.

"I'm always pleased to recognize outstanding performers. Both Michelle and Elisa achieved this prestigious award through their tremendous performance, dedication and tireless efforts," said, TSCHR Commanding Officer Capt. Matthew Rick.

TSCHR provides centralized student management which covers a variety of support processes for the care, feeding and professional development of 80,0000 Sailors, Marines, Soldiers and Airmen from the U.S. armed forces and 23 allied nations.
