The Commander, Naval Air Forces, Pacific (CNAP) force weapons officer and force ordnance handling officer visited Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) Lemoore Feb. 6.

Cmdr. Matthew Arnold, the force weapons officer, also known as the gun boss, and Cmdr. Stephen Kashuba, the ordnance handling officer, toured CNATTU Lemoore's training areas, including a look at classroom web-based training and the organization's maintenance trainer suite.

"Anytime we have senior aviation ordnanceman leadership here, we are honored and appreciate the opportunity to have them visit the command and meet with aviation ordnanceman staff and students," said Cmdr. Tommy Edgeworth, CNATTU Lemoore commanding officer. "I'm extremely proud of all the CNATTU Lemoore aviation ordnanceman instructors' accomplishments, and more importantly, of how the impact of their hard work enhances fleet readiness each and every day."

CNATTU Lemoore is a training unit specific to the F/A-18 Hornet platform, and hosts aviation ordnance "C" school courses as part of their curriculum.

During the tour, subject matter experts from aviation ratings at the schoolhouse demonstrated their respective Integrated Virtual Environment Maintenance Trainer (IVEMT) and simulated function of the avionics and weapons systems or the device.

Arnold and Kashuba also spent time with CNATTU Lemoore staff and hosted a question and answer open forum with students, many of whom were new "A" school graduates attending "C" school before reporting to F/A-18 commands.

"The force gun boss said make sure to take advantage of every opportunity that arises and focus on learning your rate," said Airman Apprentice Aviation Ordnanceman Liam Whalen, a "C" School student. "I will make sure to heed the advice of someone who has received much success in their career."

CNATTU Lemoore is part of the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training (CNATT), headquartered at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida. CNATT develops, delivers and supports aviation technical training at 27 sites located throughout the continental United States and Japan.

CNATT is a technical training agent for the Naval Aviation Enterprise (NAE) an organization designed to advance and sustain Naval Aviation warfighting capabilities at an affordable cost, and is a training center under Naval Education and Training Command (NETC).
