Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Bahrain hosted its second annual Industry Day, March 1.

NAVSUP FLC Bahrain's Industry Day promotes a discussion on maintenance repair and operations, and increases vendors' awareness or U.S. Navy's requirements in theater. This Industry Day is the command's first industry event focusing on ship repair and targeting local vendors. The summit helped streamline processes with more than 30 local vendors and approximately 125 personnel.

Presentations included briefs from Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center (FDRMC), Military Sealift Command (MSC), and HSP, as well as members of the NAVSUP FLC Bahrain contracting department.

"The audience was excited about what we do at NAVSUP FLC Bahrain and what repair and maintenance capabilities we are looking for and thus helps the Bahrain economy," said Lucy Brooks, contracting specialist, NAVSUP FLC Bahrain.

Presenters discussed government websites that contractors are required to use in order to receive a government contract with the U.S. Navy. There was an open dialog with contractors about repair services and the processes to get ship repair specific information. Discussions also clarified requirements that contractors must fulfill in order to qualify for solicitations' applications.

"The opportunities to ask and answer questions face to face in a business partnership environment will not only yield improved relationship with Industry and among ourselves, but also provide better support for our vessels and customers. We look forward to working with our U.S government partners and Industry on future events," said Capt. Kerry Pearson, NAVSUP FLC Bahrain.

NAVSUP FLC Bahrain provides full spectrum operational logistics support and quality-of-life programs to Navy, joint and coalition warfighters, DoD civilians, and their families in the U.S. Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT) AOR.
