More than 50 first class petty officers (FCPO) and chief petty officers (CPO), assigned to Surface Warfare Officer School Unit (SWOSU) Great Lakes, cleaned up Foss Park, April 21.

FCPOs and CPOs assisted North Chicago in their efforts to ready the beach area for the summer season as part of a CPO 365 COMREL event.

"We volunteer to show the importance of being a humble servant," said Chief Engineman Zach Marvain, Engineman "C" School leading chief petty officer at SWOSU Great Lakes and organizer for the event. "These events are a great opportunity to be a part of positive change in the community and demonstrate our Navy's commitment to the communities in which we serve. Chiefs and first class petty officers are the first line leaders of our service, so we are leading by example. We are not just talking, but demonstrating the importance of putting in the work necessary to impact the changes that we want to see, and we're doing it all while training our reliefs."

CPO 365 is a year-round training initiative that Chiefs Messes throughout the Navy take on to prepare first class petty officers to become chiefs.
